Day 3 Spring Card Camp 2

Back with another card this weekend. Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom’s out there, wishing you a fantastic day. Working on Day 3 of Spring Card Camp 2. Dry Embossing with a Stencil taught by the awesome Cathy Zielske.

This card idea came from a mishap. When I went to emboss my stencil onto the card stock I realized that i had just a little bit of ink left behind from my last project which transferred onto the paper. Wanted to see what it would look like if a lot more ink transferred onto the paper…:)

Pulled out my distress oxides and using ink daubers I started inking up parts of the stencil trying not to get too much ink on. I really wanted to still see the detail of the embossed image. I taped the card stock and stencil together very carefully before putting it through the Gemini. Am I the only one that has to always look up the instructions on how to put the sandwich together on the Gemini for different techniques ? Oh the struggles in the craft room lol.

Ta Daaa….I loved the emboss look and with the added ink in the embossed sections made the image pop. I did use a small piece of papertowel in between my sandwich before putting it through the die cutting machine so that I didn’t transfer any ink onto my cutting plate. I really need to try this technique a again with geometric shape stencil or even a balloon stencil…with rainbow.

It was a little difficult to try and get a picture that shows the detail. Hoping you are able to see it. Really had fun with this technique. Will definitely be trying this one again.

Supplies Used:

  • Stamps: Simon Says Stamp Greetings Mix 1
