Peony Bouquet Stencil

Hello crafty friends, hope you are having a fantastic weekend. I had posted this card on Instagram and received many DM’s on how I achieved such bright images on black cardstock so wanted to share how I created this beautiful card using one of my most favorite stencils by Simon Says Stamp, Peony Bouquet. Have you seen the new Rose Trio Stencil from SSS…oh that would look gorgeous on black or grey. This is why my wish list is so long..lol.

I used 110# black cardstock along with Mama Elephant Pigment Ink. I did try Distress Oxide but it didn’t come out as bright as the Pigment ink did. I used Pixie Spray on the back side of the stencil to make sure it didn’t shift when I placed it on the card stock. I pull out the very neglected Mama Elephant Pigment inks : colors were Eggplant, Fresh Mint and Mojito…..(that has got to be the best name for ink ).

Using ink daubers I started at the center and working out I started slowly building up the color and the effect was amazing. I ended up doing 3 layers, waiting in between for a minute or 2 for the layer to dry.

something so added a few white and fresh mint splatters for added texture and used the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes. I colored the sentiment strip with the Mama Elephant Eggplant ink and than embossed the sentiment with Brutus Monroe Ultra Fine Embossing Powder – Alabaster.

I love how this card turned out. The bright colors on the black background makes the images pop.

Supplies used:

  • Stamps: SSS Big Birthday Wishes
  • Stencil : SSS Peony Bouquet
  • Mama Elephant Ink : Eggplant, Fresh Mint, Mojito
  • Cardstock : SSS 100# Black Cardstock, Mint Cardstock (not sure of brand) , Neenah 110# for base.
  • Brutus Monroe Ultra Fine Embossing Powder

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by today. Hope to see you again soon with another card. Please stay safe and stay healthy.
