Hi crafty friends, it has been a while since I have created a post here on my blog. Life just got in the way :). I am happy to be back , my plan is to hopefully post once a week. Today I am showing how I put this super fun Grunge card together. I have been getting alot more adventurous with mixed media. Still alot to learn but having alot of fun in process.
Using a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper I ink smooshed Antique linen, Pumice Stone, Walnut Stain and Speckled Egg. After the panel dried I I stamped the alphabet stamp in 2 opposite ends of the cardstock using Archival Vintage Photo. I wanted to add some crackle paste so made my own stencil using Sizzix Mixed Media 1 set and layered the paste slightly over the stamped corners.
While the paste was drying I started working on the gears. Using the Sizzix Gearhead die set I diecut them out using the Tim Holtz Silver and Gold Cardstock. Using Alchohol inks Latte, Pool and Teakwood I started to drop them on the gears. After the first layer dried I used Ranger Grit paste and layered it sporatically around the gears. When the paste had dried and I went and dropped more alchohol ink. Not being carefull at all 🙂 I love the way these turned out.
I had a scrap piece of watercolored cardstock lying around. Not a 100% sure what inks were on there but if I was to guess probably Anitque Linen, Speckled Egg and Rusty Hinge. I have so many panels just sitting there waiting to be used 🙂 . I took out the script stamp from the Ledger Stamp set and stamped it on the panedl using Vintage Photo. I also stamped the pocket watch from Destinguished using Archival Black Soot.
I pulled out one of my favourite Simon Says Stamp sets…Beautiful Butterflies. Stamped it using Black Soot Archival ink on watercolor paper. Ink Smooshed using Anitique Linen, Peacock Feathers and Walnut stain. After it had dried I went in using my copics and added some more details .
After the panel had dried I wanted to add another layer of color. This time I added Peacock Feathers and Gathered Twigs. I stamped the script from Ledger set and the numbers from Faded Type. After the panel had dried I put on a very thin layer of Distress Glaze. After it dried I splattered on some white and black acrylic paint which as you can tell I forgot to take a pic of.
While the ink dried on the panel I went and added some glitter dust on the butterfly and some glossy accents to the face of the vintage pocket watch. Going back to the panel I worked on layering down the gears. This took me forever…I kept changing the way I wanted them. Now to wait for everything to dry. This is where I had to force myself to walk away. If I didn’t I would kept changing the way I had the gears of accidently touched the watch while it was still went, seriously I am definitley not the most patient person..lol
After everything was dry I started layering and glueing everything into place. Popped the panel onto a foam panel and mounted it on a 110lb Neenah Solar White Base.
