So excited for the new colours to the Distress Embossing Glaze line. This release includes: Abandoned Coral, Aged Mahogany, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Bundled Sage, Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves and Pumice Stone. Such gorgous These gorgous translucent embossing powders are so amazing and can be used in many different ways. They can be layered and color mixed unlike traditional embossing powders. I have created a fun make to showcase a few different techniques.

Using vignette tray I decided to go use all the colors from the new distress embossing glaze collection. With a large vignette tray, backdrops and collage strips I covered the entire panel…not the back..lol I seem to always forget about that.

With the collage strips I covered the inside in rainbow order with collage medium. For the outside I used the backdrops that had the colours on them after everything had dried I added opaque crackle paste to the outside. To finish the panel I added vintage design tape.

I covered parts of the inside using mummy cloth and after pulled out random idea ology pieces. The matchboxes come in a set of 12 which work out perfect for this make since there were 12 new colors released. It was so much fun making each box…nice and small and you can add so many fun details.

Box #1 Abanoded Coral I added collage medium to the butterfly and added embossing glaze, after it had dried I went in with my embossing tool. Before it had a chance to dry and sprinkled on another layer of embossing glaze and heat set it again. I also added embossing glaze to the edges of the box as well. Box #2 Aged Mahoganey I used the same technique on the thimble and covered the sides of the inside of the box with distress glaze. Box # 3 Spiced Marmalade I used my embossing pad on a piece of ephemera and coated it with glaze. Love that these glazes are translucent and you are able to see the image. Box #4 Squeezed Lemonade using TH mini roses stencil I went in with crackle paste and covered it with the glaze. After it had completely dried I heat set it. If you heat it before it is dried it will bubble. For almose all the boxes in this make I did go over the glaze with either walnut stain or picket fence crayon.

Box #5 Crushed Olive I covered a piece of distress watercolor paper with embossing ink and layered on the glaze, heat set it and die cut using Sizzix mixed media thinlit. I used a distress embossing pen on the paperdoll and coated with the glaze and heat set it. I did added some white dots to the dress. Box #6 Bundled Sage Since the heirloom roses are so small I used the red tape from SSS to a popscile and attached them. this made it easier to add the collage medium and embossing glaze. I waited for the collage medium to dry before heat setting it. Added walnut stain crayon ;using a distress blending brush. Box #7 Mowed Lawn For the clover I die cut it first before embossing it and went over it with walnut stain crayon. It did crack in a few places but I didn’t mind that. Box #8 Peacock Feathers The background is an ephemera piece and i just went around the edges with oxid of the same color and with the same technique as the heirloom roses I covered the ornate frame. After I heat set it I went into the grooves with picket fence crayon.

Box #9 Mermaid Lagoon Covering adornments seem to be a favourite tehnique for me I used it here with the star. For the ephemera piece in the back I covered the edges with crackle paste and went over it with the glaze. Box #10 Chipped Saphire For this one I struggled. I covered a wood piece with collage medium and glaze but heat setting it was a little tricky. It didn’t seem to set right. I did 2 coats and it still had little craters but instead of doing another layer I covered it with picet fence crayon. Box #11 Seedless Preserves same technique as the star. Box #12 Pumice Stone I covered a piece of distress watercolor cardstock with the glaze, heat set it. Using the sizzix mini cobblestone folder I covered the inside with black soot archival ink and ran it throught the foldaway. loved the look of this. I went over it with walnut stain crayon which covered enhanced the inperfections.

Hope you enjoyed my step by step. This was such a fun make. Distress Embossing Glazes add such a wonderful detail to your make. Can’t wait to see what you all crreate.
